What I think alba said translated into English is: The effect of Prestige for some families in Galicia was very negative because they lost their job since the most of the families work in the sea.

I think that what vane and maria said translated into English is: That many seamen lost part of their job because oil had an effect on fish. Also a lot of tourism was lost since the beaches were full of oil and you could have not go to the water because it affects your health.
